This Month in History: A Pine Island fish storyPine Island Eagle”Don’t tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly don’t tell them where they know the fish.” – Mark Twain. In the waters around Pine Island, there have always been fishermen. For thousands of years there were the Calusa Indians.

I was planning on either one of these places for spring break. I haven’t been either place, but after researching they both appeal to me. I plan on bringing my two children 10 and 12. I am asking anyone who has stayed at either place to give me their suggestion. I also want suggestions on hotels/resorts. I don’t want to go to a party area. I want it to be a family vacation.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your opinions they were very helpful. We chose to go with the South Seas Resort on Captiva. There seems to be a lot to do there that my kids would enjoy. I am so tired of amusement parks so I really wanted some where quiet.
By party area, I meant spring breakers. I don’t know, I just remember my younger years in Daytona, Panama City, etc. I just didn’t want that kind of atmosphere.
I will definitely keep that Hawk’s Cay in mind for the future, it really seemed like a nice place. I just wanted more beach.
I wish we could head down there January or February to get those deals. It’s just no doable at this time.
Are there nice sandy beaches on Captiva or are they all shells? Are they good for children…shallow, clear water, low surf…? Any opinions on where to stay? Thinking about South Seas Resort. Thanks!
Me and my wife are think about vacationing on Captiva Islands South Seas Resort or maybe just staying on Fort Myers Beach. Any suggestions or pros and cons. Is there any shopping or anything on Captiva Island or would you have to do some driving. I think we are looking for the best of both world, relaxation and also a bit of excitment, fun, shopping
I have stayed at Cocoa Beach ,Sanibel Island,Vero Beach, and Captiva and hav enjoyed them all. Just looking for a nice hotel or resort on the beach at one of these places or somewhere else.
I need help I don’t know what beach to have the wedding at
I am traveling there for a vacation and i was wondering if any of u guys have been there to give me reccommendations, good restaurants, fun places to see or do, etc
thanks!
Me and my friends and moms are going to Sanibel Island in Florida on spring break. I have never been to a beach before (I know sounds crazy) and I am obsessed with beaches and finding the right one. You know those beaches in the movies where its sandy and perfect and there’s lots of room and its really breathtaking? Yes I want to find one of those. I have always wanted to sit in the spot where the water touches the sand and the waves foam. I don’t know why,but I have this crazy dream to just sit there and I feel like that is my heaven. I don’t want to go to a beach that has like one foot of sandy beach with gross water and lame views. I want to go to a beach. For all you people who go to Sanibel, WHAT IS THE BEST BEACH TO VISIT AND SPEND THE DAY AT? I plan on tanning, playing in the water, sitting in the water, staring at the sunset and views, building sand castles and exploring. So, what is the best beach there? I know I sound picky, but I want this trip to go perfectly since I live in upstate new york and have a fetish with beaches and well…there’s no beaches anywhere close. Thanks!!!
I am going to Captiva on the 14th and I was just wondering if you had any input about it. Did you like it? Weather? Things to do? Places to eat? stuff like that.
Thanks
When ever people think of American road trips and Florida people only think about Orlando, Miami and the Florida Keys. What are some highly underrated rated places to visit in Florida?
